Alumni News: Oscar winner Luke Matheny Premieres Amazon Series
Windrider congratulates 2012 WR participant Luke Matheny on the premiere of the Amazon Original Series Gortimer Gibbon’s Life On Normal Street set to debut November 21 on Amazon Prime. The series, executive produced by Oscar winner Matheny is a coming of age, family friendly offering featuring Sloane Morgan Siegel, Ashley Boettcher, Drew Justice as a band of friends who embark on magical adventures in their sleepy suburban neighborhood on Normal Street.
Luke also dons his actor’s hat to play Fred, a strange young man who has a magic pencil enabling him to forget anything he wants to simply by writing it down and then erasing it. Over the years, he’s all but forgotten his entire life. Now, he is not only carefree, but without friends, family or much of a life at all. The show was created by preschool teacher and first-time writer David Anaxagoras as the first project to be green-lit through Amazon’s open-door pilot submission process.
After winning the 2010 Excellence in Filmmaking Award at the Angelus Student Film Festival for his short God of Love, Luke captured the much coveted Academy Award for Best Live Acton Short 2011, and then personally brought his film to Windrider Forum, Park City to participate in rousing discussions on the thematic elements of the popular short.
