Welcome to the Windrider Forum
The Windrider Film Forum debuted in January 2005 in Park City, Utah at the Sundance Film Festival as an immersive educational experiment to inspire conversation between filmmakers and film lovers.
Structuring the experience to participate in Sundance on Sundance’s own terms, our “classroom” became the Sundance Film Festival itself; the content of our “course” were the films we saw; and our “professors” were the filmmakers who participated in conversations with us.
We choose films that would seem to offer the greatest potential for art and insight and would open up theological possibilities, often by dealing with hidden aspects of the human experience. We found that these films and their makers explored the human condition with creativity, compassion and respect, offering profound depictions of the complexities therein through excellence in the craft of story telling.
So there we gathered, at the nexus of faith, art and culture diving into all three with a sense of expectation and wonder. We opened ourselves to be challenged by these films and their makers. The experience stretched our minds, on occasion offended our sensibilities and broke our hearts in many surprising ways.
Of course, in the end we were left both wanting more and needing to share this experience with as many people as we could. So four years later the Windrider Forum is a staple at Park City during the Sundance Film Festival and is growing across the globe as a grassroots movement to engage with culture head on in what has become an incredibly inspiring forum for conversation.
So now we invite you to join us. Dive in and help continue the conversation.
“We endeavor to bring together local community partners who serve as hosts and event organizers with films, filmmakers and their audience. From there, we create space for the conversation to begin and then continue long after the forum is over.Windrider forums are all about community, connecting and creating space for conversation.”
